What is the Asheville Hub?  E-mail
Sparking Community Collaborations

The Asheville Hub sparks collaborations within and across Buncombe County’s technology, sustainability, rejuvenation, creativity, land/agriculture, manufacturing and enterprise clusters so our community may benefit from emerging opportunities.

We think and advocate for the future, encourage leadership collaboration, nurture new initiatives and find implementing agencies for them. Whereas one of our primary partners, the Economic Development Coalition for Asheville-Buncombe County focuses on recruiting new businesses and helping existing ones expand, the Hub’s concept of community development extends beyond economic development into social, environmental and cultural domains as well.

The Asheville Hub has catalyzed Asheville’s campaign to play a key role in the nation’s climate change strategy, including the creation of a new NOAA Cooperative Institute for Climate and Satellites that will be based partly in Asheville. The Hub has spawned conversations between the City of Asheville and Buncombe County, UNC Asheville and A-B Tech, and countless other local partners that have led to the creation or the realization of the following – the Technology Commercialization Center, a coordinated strategy for the region’s economic development organizations, UNC Asheville’s emerging craft campus, Meet the Geeks, HandMade in America’s Design Center, the Asheville Farmers Market and many other projects and programs.
